If you haven't read it yet, you can find the award-winning (eeek!) 'Room in the Nest' in lots of book shops, and on Amazon. It still took a very long time to draw each of the characters I created though, so at the risk of sounding like a cheesy X-Factor sob story, overcoming that obstacle made this story even more special to me. I have fibromyalgia and hypermobile joints, which make it very painful to hold a pencil for long, but I found ways to digitally illustrate and edit, so I didn't have to draw so much on paper. It features some of the fabulous characters from 'Delly Duck,' who my very talented sister Suzy created - thank you, Suzanne Garland! ❤️ - and Suzy also shared her wisdom with me when I was teaching myself how to illustrate the new characters for this story, because I wanted to prove to myself that I could. This story is extra-special to me, because I illustrated most of it myself. 'Room in the Nest' is an inclusive story of fostering, reunification, kinship care and adoption, that can be used to explain the Family Court system, the role of social workers and different types of foster care.

I am absolutely thrilled! I wrote this story to help my (adopted) son to understand the different outcomes from foster care that his foster siblings had.
